Hi Everyone We hope you and your RASKA cats happy and healthy ! Brad and I thought we should put together a newsletter to keep you all up to date as to what's been happening with RASKA Cattery so here it is... Your Photos Every single photo of these kids was just 'Drop-Dead-Gorgeous' so congratulations to the photographers for such beautiful shots. Your names will be proudly displayed below the photos you kindly sent us. The Cult Of The Cat Recently, a well known journalist contacted us regarding filming some of the RASKA kids. Gita Irwin has done some terrific documentary work highlighting the difficulties faced by people battling bi-polar depression and has won accoloades (2008 Hope Award) with her documentary 'Facing The Black Dog'.Gita was putting together a documentary called 'The Cult Of The Cat'. She had recently lost her own cat under tragic circumstances and wanted to put together a documentary on cats and the impact they have on peoples lives, and also as a dedication to her lost soul mate. Gita came to RASKA and didn't want to leave - both her and the film crew. We await with much anticipation the documentary.
As many of you know, RASKA cats are no strangers to shows, the media, the press and so on. Earlier this year, we were asked if we would like to attend an audition for a well known pet-food commercial. We arrived at the venue with our stud boy Sergei and met with the film crew and animal handler. Poor Sergei was 'Nil By The photo shoot was scheduled at 0730am in a waterfront mansion overlooking the southern beaches. The crew were apprehensive to say the least as previous animal shoots had taken up until 9pm in the evening to get the right footage. Di went in with Sergei and set him up for the shoot. There were six individual scenes taken for the commerclal and Sergei performed perfectly for each of them. After each scene, the director said 'That's a take' and Di and Sergei were on their way home at 1pm. The director, crew and more importantly the 'Client' (who happened to fly in for the shoot and talked to Di) were ecstatic and it seems Sergei is now destined for further fame as they want to use him for all the future commercials .
