About Di's Pet Care

In 2007 an overseas cat breeder rang me - Lisa Peterson (from Curly Cats on our Links page). Lisa had just arrived in Coffs Harbour, Australia from England and asked if if could check on her breeding cats who had recently arrived at Eastern Creek Quarantine Station. Lisa asked if I could I visit them daily and having worked at AQIS previously, I agreed.

Since then, word-of-mouth endorsements from many pet owners has seen the need for me to form my own business - Di's Pet Care. I now visit Eastern Creek Quarantine Station daily to look after pets from Australia and around the world.

Pets often miss their daily routine when quarantined, and suffer feelings of loneliness and abandonment. They don't understand why they are isolated and in a new environment with different sights, sounds and smells. Even with qualified on-site Veterinary staff the animal's condition can sometimes deteriorate. They can refuse food and begin to pine for the lifestyle and the people they remember so well.

Being a lover of animals myself, I keep a watchful eye out for these often subtle warning signs and as I feel such a strong bond with animals, can generally pick-up on their feelings and get them back up, eating and playing when they're feeling down. Some may just need a bit of tender loving care when they are away from their owners for so long.

Some pets may also have special dietary requirements (maybe some home-cooked chicken), or need grooming to remove any knots in their coat. Dogs may just want a walk or a run on fresh grass. I've found that most cats and dogs enjoy some playtime too.

A fifteen minute walk on the grass can quickly resolve problems where certain dogs won't toilet on cement - a common issue with kennelled canines.
